More Mid Level Moderate Walks in North Snowdonia

Here’s another selection of low and mid level easy and moderate walks in Snowdonia. These are ideal for families, when you don’t want to scale the main peaks, or you’ve only got half a day spare. Beware these mid level walks may still pose a challenge to some, and none of these are an easy walk in the park! All we’ll say is that they’re all easier than walking up any of the surrounding peaks, but you’ll know your own fitness levels better than we do. Llyn Peris and Padarn

A 15km mid level walk along both these Snowdonia lakes from Llanberis. Plenty of facilities along the way (pub in Nant Peris, cafe in Brynrefail and most things in Llanberis). The industrial archaeology add a load of interest, with Castell Dolbadarn worth a detour.

Cwm Trwsgl and the Tramway from Cwm Pennant

This is a pleasant mid level walk with some industrial Snowdonia archaeology to explore (with care). Views include the lesser known facets of Moel Hebog and the Nantlle Ridge.

Nant Gwynant Walk – Pen-y-pass to Beddgelert

This may be a linear mid level walk, but you can use the Sherpa Bus in order to return to the start. This is a route that’s mainly downhill, with a cafe half way at Nant Gwynant and the village of Beddgelert at the walk’s end.

Llyn Elsi from Betws y Coed

If you’re visiting Snowdonia, you’ll probably end up in Betws-y-Coed. It’s too far to walk to the mountains, but you can still get an interesting mid level walk to this hidden gem in before lunch.

Tryfan Circuit

This is the toughest walk here, and may well be classed as a hard walk by some! Nevertheless, this is a cracking route that shouldn’t pose too many problems to hill walkers who just don’t fancy all that scrambling, or if the conditions deteriorate and puts the summit outside your party’s comfort zone.

Bite Sized Carneddau – Yr Orsedd

A relatively unknown hill, but a mini adventure in itself. No real difficulties – but at just over 500m this may not be your idea of a mid level walk! With a mini ridge, a view into Cwm Anafon and a return on a Roman Road; this is a truly mini adventure!
